Khunya Thai Kitchen Kulai is a cozy Thai restaurant tucked away on Jalan Kiambang 12, serving up straightforward, home-style Thai dishes that feel genuine rather than over-polished. The atmosphere is unpretentious and casual, making it a comfortable spot for families or small groups looking for hearty Thai flavors without fuss.

Visitors to Khunya can expect a menu featuring Thai staples like seafood tomyam, deep-fried kangkung, pineapple fried rice, and various meat dishes such as moo ping and spicy basil pork. Several patrons note the food's authentic taste — from the tender, well-marinated meats to the balanced, fragrant lemongrass drinks accompanying meals. Portions tend to lean generous, especially for the meat dishes, which suits those looking for a substantial, satisfying meal.

The vibe leans toward lively and practical rather than polished or trendy, with friendly staff and reasonable prices adding to the easy-going feel. This is a place locals might drop into for a solid lunch or dinner, especially if they crave the bold, earthy flavors found in dishes like tom yam soup or the crisp freshness of fried kangkung.

While the oyster omelette has received mixed reactions over its texture and oyster quantity, other side dishes like spring rolls stand out with their crunchy textures and layered ingredients. The setting isn’t about finesse but rather about reliable, familiar tastes that comfort and fill you up.

Khunya Thai Kitchen works well for those who appreciate straightforward, authentic Thai food—whether for a midday meal or an early evening dinner. The restaurant’s location in Kulai makes it a good stop for locals or travelers passing through Johor Darul Ta'zim looking to enjoy Thai cuisine with a local touch.

Khunya truly authentic. 奶奶 lives up to her name. Aroi Mak !! - Lemongrass drink perfect fragrance. - Moo Peng meat is soft & tender. - Pha Thai is chewy & sweet with tips of lemon. - Basil Pork meat portion is big & spicy. If not for the steam egg heavy burnt smell 焦味, I will definitely give full

We really enjoyed our meal here! The pineapple fried rice was flavorful and perfectly balanced — definitely our favorite. The Pucuk Paku salad was fresh and unique, and the Thai-style oyster omelette was tasty and satisfying. Great portions and authentic flavors — we’ll definitely be back!

This is a surprise find as we happen to be close by. Ordered the deep fried kangkong, oyster omelette, fried kuey tiau, pineapple rice and moo ping. All the dishes were wonderful, only the omelette is a little bit disappointing. Not much oysters, and the texture of the egg is too crispy like floss. Overall a great place for Thai food and would definitely come back again

Had dinner on a Sunday, and the restaurant was half full. I noticed they have multiple branches, but this was my first time trying this one as I had just returned from the airport and was craving Thai food. Overall, the food was good, though slightly pricier than the average Thai restaurant—but the portions are quite large, making it worth it. What I Ordered: Fried Kangkong (5/5) – Loved the crispiness! The sauce had a Thai green chili flavor but was made with red chili and minced meat, which paired really well. Fried Pork Belly (4/5) – Simple and tasty. You can taste the garlic, though it didn’t fully absorb into the meat. The portion is huge, great for sharing. Grilled Sotong (4/5) – The squid was fresh and tender, not rubbery. The Thai green chili sauce complemented it well. Thai Tea (4/5) – Standard, but good—a solid choice for classic Thai tea lovers. I’ll definitely come back to try more dishes and might check out their other branches too!
